For over 50 years, Hastings Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Specialists has been a presence in the Hastings community and surrounding area. Throughout those years, as the practice of orthopaedics has changed with the development of new procedures and new technologies, the staff and physicians have advanced their care to incorporate the latest and best of these advancements.

From its inception, Hastings Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Specialists has been very active in the development of Sports Medicine programs in South Central Nebraska, both at the high school and college levels. However, our involvement with sporting injuries (or any injuries) is not confined to only high schools and colleges, we care for all ages.

Our physicians bring orthopaedic care to the following communities besides Hastings: Cozad, Minden, Franklin, Red Cloud, Superior and Hebron in Nebraska; as well as Smith Center and Mankato in Kansas.

We provide a full scope of orthopaedic care including fracture care, total joint replacement, sports medicine, arthritic joint relief, hand surgery and back/spine care and surgery. It is our goal to return you to the activities you want to do – to “FEEL LIKE YOURSELF AGAIN”.

What's New

New Physician

Travis B. Stoner, D.O. is a welcome addition to our Professional Team and to our Community. He is a Nebraska City Native who enjoys what Nebraska has to offer, such as hunting, fishing and sports.

With a history in physical therapy, he brings to Hastings Orthopaedics and the surrounding communities a wealth of education and training as an orthopaedic surgeon. He completed a fellowship in Adult Joint Reconstruction of the hips and knees at The Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

When asked his favorite interest, he smiles and says his wife and four sons. Fortunate for Hastings Orthopaedics and you, Orthopaedics seems to be right at the top also. He is a caring physician that wants to be able to take care of your orthopaedic needs.

Recent Developments by Hastings Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Specialists

Computer-Assisted Surgery is a discipline where computer technology is applied to improve the outcome of orthopaedic surgical procedures. Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery technologies allow the surgeon to:

• Plan the component placement in advance, including determination of the appropriate component sizes
• Measure the intra-operative placement of the components in real time, making sure that the plan is adhered to
• Measure the post-operative result

Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery is mostly used in knee implant surgery because of the precision the surgeon is able to get.
